Swim Classes and Scuba Certifications

PADI Certified Instructors

Paradise Scuba is certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors to teach and license skin diving, open-water scuba diving, and various specialty, advanced, rescue, and professional-level diving classes.

Our instructors have over 40 years combined of teaching experience, most of it right here in the Brazos Valley. All listed prices include tuition, books, any certification fees and use of our gear for the class

Skin Diving/Snorkeling

Let the fun and excitment begin! After a small amount of instruction and supervised activity you will easily be able to go below the surface where you will discover corals, fishes, crustaceans - everything from dolphins to dugongs face-to-face. Our instructors will coach you through the process of breath-hold diving. Soon you will be effortlessly floating over shallow reefs, enjoying your introduction to aquatic life.

Discover Scuba

The Discover Scuba Diving class lets you experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of a dive professional in our heated indoor pool. During your adventure, you'll be introduced to some basic concepts and scuba skills which you can then use later in open water certification classes. Should you wish to continue, the cost of the Discover Scuba class can apply towards the Basic Open Water Scuba Diver course!

Basic Open Water Scuba Diver

This class is the entry level scuba certification course. It provides the fundamental knowledge and skills to scuba dive. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are considered competent enough to engage in open water diving activities without supervision, provided the diving activities and the areas dived approximate those of training.
Prerequisites: 15 years old

Junior Open Water Scuba Diver

The Junior Open Water Scuba Diver course is the same course as the Basic Open Water Course. The only difference is that all the students are aged 10-15 years old! That way, kids can learn scuba diving in the comfortable company of their peers!
Prerequisites: 10 years old
Cost: $350
Private classes: $475

Scuba Refresher

Haven't been diving in awhile and want to tune up your skills? This one-night mini-class will re-introduce you to necessary scuba skills in the privacy and comfort of our indoor pool! This course is only offered on an appointment basis, so call to make an appointment today! Want to go through the entire Open Water Course with another class? We can do that as well, for a more in-depth and rigorous refresher.
Cost: $50 per person OR $80 per couple (one-night class)
Cost: $150 per person (week-long class)

Advanced Open Water Diver

This course is a continuing education certification course for certified divers. It is an enjoyable program of continued supervised experience designed to introduce divers to a variety of five different diving activities and is taught entirely in an open water setting. The required five dives may be made up of such dives as: navigation, night diving, deep diving, search and recovery, light salvage, altitude diving, among many others. Another benefit: each of these dives can count towards the certification in one of our specialty diving courses!
Prerequisites: 15 years old (10 years old for Jr. Adventure Diver), Open Water Diver

Emergency First Responder

The Emergency First Responder course is really made up of several courses all in one! Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening. Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. These courses focus on primary and secondary care of adults and children through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. Use of automated external defibrillators (AED's) is also included in this course.
Prerequisites: None!
Cost: $100

Rescue Diver

This course teaches the diver to think beyond themselves and consider the safety and well-being of other divers. This course is a challenging and rewarding way to make you a more confident diver. The rescue diver course will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever taken!
Prerequisites: 15 years old (10 for Jr. Rescue Diver), Advanced Open Water, EFR or CPR/First Aid certified, and proof of 20 or more logged dives

NITROX Diver

This course is a continuing education specialty during which students will learn how to use NITROX (oxygen-enriched air) in their recreational diving. This course is great for the professional, research or technical diver!
Prerequisites: 15 years old, Open Water Diver certification

Equipment Specialist

This course provides you with in-depth instruction about the operation and maintenance of your dive equipment. After all, the more you know about how your gear works, the more comfortable you are with it, the more performance you get from it and the better you can care for it. We review the theory, principles and operation of dive equipment along with routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures, and equipment storage. We will also discuss common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures. An additional benefit of the class is that this certification counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating!
Prerequisites: 10 years old, Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification

Night Diver

The adventure, thrill and excitement of night diving can be yours when you complete this Night Diver specialty course. You learn about night dive planning, equipment and navigation. You get to practice these on three night dives, plus introduce yourself to the whole new cast of critters that comes out after the sun goes down. Topics in the class include dive lights, night diving equipment, entries, exits, night navigation, nocturnal aquatic life, communication and light handling. Like all of our specialty classes, this certification counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating!
Prerequisites: 12 years old, Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification

Master Scuba Diver

Explore the underwater world like never before. Do it by becoming a Master Scuba Diver – a rating that puts you in a class of distinction. You earn it by diving it, writing your ticket to endless adventure through the experience and training that set you apart. With the Master Scuba Diver rating, you've reached the highest non-professional level of diver education. It means that you’ve acquired significant training and experience in a variety of dive environments.
Prerequisites: Rescue Diver certification, 50 logged dives, 5 specialty diver certifications
Cost: $400

Divemaster

This is your first step as a professional diver! Working closely with one of our instructors, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. During the Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action through an internship and/or a series of practical training exercises.
Prerequisites: 18 years old, Rescue Diver certification, EFR or CPR/First Aid certification in the last 24 months, 20 logged dives (to begin the course), 60 logged dives (by the end of the course)
Cost: $450
