This class is the entry level scuba certification course. It provides
the fundamental knowledge and skills to scuba dive. Upon successful
completion of this course, graduates are considered competent enough to
engage in open water diving activities without supervision, provided
the diving activities and the areas dived approximate those of training. Junior Open Water Scuba Diver
The Junior Open Water Scuba Diver course is the same course as the
Basic Open Water Course. The only difference is that all the students
are aged 10-15 years old! That way, kids can learn scuba diving in the
comfortable company of their peers! Scuba Refresher
Haven't been diving in awhile and want to tune up your skills? This
one-night mini-class will re-introduce you
to necessary scuba skills in the privacy and comfort of our indoor
pool! This course is only offered on an appointment basis, so call to
make an appointment today! Want to go through the entire Open Water
Course with another class? We can do that as well, for a more in-depth
and rigorous refresher. Advanced Open Water Diver
This course is a continuing education certification course for
certified divers. It is an enjoyable program of continued supervised
experience designed to introduce divers to a variety of five different
diving activities and is taught entirely in an open water setting. The
required five dives may be made up of such dives as: navigation, night
diving, deep diving, search and recovery, light salvage, altitude
diving, among many others. Another benefit: each of these dives can
count towards the certification in one of our specialty diving courses! Emergency First Responder
The Emergency First Responder course is really made up of several
courses all in one! Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid)
covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening.
Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) teaches participants how to
respond to life-threatening emergencies. These courses focus on primary
and secondary care of adults and children through a combination of
knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario
practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability
to provide care when emergency situations arise. Use of automated
external defibrillators (AED's) is also included in this course. Rescue Diver
This course teaches the diver to think beyond themselves and consider
the safety and well-being of other divers. This course is a challenging
and rewarding way to make you a more confident diver. The rescue diver
course will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage
dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever
taken! NITROX Diver
This course is a continuing education specialty during which students will learn how to use NITROX
(oxygen-enriched air) in their recreational diving. This course is great for the professional, research or technical diver! Equipment Specialist
This course provides you with in-depth instruction about the operation
and maintenance of your dive equipment. After all, the more you know
about how your gear works, the more comfortable you are with it, the
more performance you get from it and the better you can care for it. We
review the theory, principles and operation of dive equipment along
with routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures, and
equipment storage. We will also discuss common problems with equipment
and recommended professional maintenance procedures. An additional
benefit of the class is that this certification counts toward the
Master Scuba Diver rating! Night Diver
The adventure, thrill and excitement of night diving can be yours when
you complete this Night Diver specialty course. You learn about night
dive planning, equipment and navigation. You get to practice these on
three night dives, plus introduce yourself to the whole new cast of
critters that comes out after the sun goes down.
Topics in the class include dive lights, night diving equipment,
entries, exits, night navigation, nocturnal aquatic life, communication
and light handling. Like all of our specialty classes, this
certification counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating! Master Scuba Diver
Explore the underwater world like never before. Do it by becoming a
Master Scuba Diver – a rating that puts you in a class of distinction.
You earn it by diving it, writing your ticket to endless adventure
through the experience and training that set you apart. With the Master
Scuba Diver rating, you've reached the highest non-professional level
of diver education. It means that you’ve acquired significant training
and experience in a variety of dive environments. Divemaster
This is your first step as a professional diver! Working closely with
one of our instructors, in this program you expand your dive knowledge
and hone your skills to the professional level. Divemaster training
develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive
activities and assist instructors with student divers. During the
Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both
classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina
exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to
organize and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action through
an internship and/or a series of practical training exercises. Specialty Dive CoursesWe also offer various specialty classes, and classes leading to teaching/professional roles in the diving community. Please call the shop for more information on these offerings, including:
